Another of my students’ favorite projects is the Foil Relief Mural project. Each student created a non-objective lines drawing, then outlined their drawing with glue. After the glue dried, we added foil to the paper and incised patterns and designs into the recessed areas. The final step was to paint over the designs and buff them, leaving paint inside the textured areas and exposing the foil in the raised areas. Piecing the individual projects together created an unusual textured masterpiece that everyone wanted to reach out and touch.
