In this project, my students studied the traditional Mexican celebration of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Each class made a different project, then the projects were combined to create a large altar in our display window. Some students made papier maché masks while others made papel picado (delicately cut paper banners). Students also made replica sugar skulls, calaveras, and paper flowers, as well as brought offerings for deceased loved ones to display in the school altar.
