This is a favorite project that is often requested by the students. As an introduction, the class has a discussion about Grant Wood’s “American Gothic,” focusing on the elements of design and key features that make the painting so recognizable. Then, the students chose two famous characters that would be familiar to most people. Each student drew their characters and background, making sure to keep all of the important details of the original painting.
