For anyone who has grown up in San Antonio, visiting the Alamo is a rite of passage. It is the most recognized symbol of our city and attracts millions of tourists every year. I thought it would be a good idea to incorporate such an important part of our history into a project. After a class discussion of the many architectural elements of the mission, the students drew their version of the Alamo. Advanced students were encouraged to draw the building in scale, using ratios and measuring. The pieces were outlined in black marker, then colored with bright, fiesta colors to reflect the spirit of San Antonio and its people.
