This project really shows how much art can support core subjects, such as math, in this case. For this project, my advanced art students chose a vintage comic book image to recreate. Using measuring and ratios, they created a grid in which they would draw their image two to three times larger than the original. Then, using fractions and angles, they drew each piece on the grid in detail, ending up with an accurate recreation of the original. This project caused quite a stir on our campus, with frequent compliments from parents, students, teachers and administrators.
